This extremely versatile type of mount is produced in three variants: FRS, FRS/MV and SFM . By virtue of the design, they can be used where a fail safety feature is necessary. They can also be used for suspension mounting and for radial loading in which case the load can be doubled from the normal axial loading for the same deflection.
The FRS mount is available in 5 standard rubber compounds to cater for axial static loads from 2 to 28Kg (radial loads up to 60Kg)
The FRS/MV mount has the highest load bearing capacity in this range being designed to accommodate static loads up to 55Kg per mount and is available in the 2 firmest rubber grades (Types 4 & 5)
The SFM mount is a smaller version of the FRS mount
Installation The central bore is usually used for bolting to the isolated equipment and the 4 mounting holes used to fix to the supporting structure. These roles may however be reversed if more convenient. Usual installation is either horizontal or vertical as shown in the examples. The FRS/MV mount is normally used only for vertical loading. The design of this mount enables fail-safe operation such that in the event that the elastomer should be destroyed (by fire for example), the equipment will not become detached. For this reason, this mount is suitable for suspended loads.
Typical Applications Fans, blowers, engine radiators, compressors (small), instrument panels, small electric motors, small gearbox drives, pumps, control boxes, small petrol/diesel engines.
Materials Rubber: Natural rubber (polyisoprene) of different grades (see Materials) Alternative elastomers available on request. Metal: Steel with sherardised and clear passivate finish.
